Souq.com rebrand as Amazon UAE

E-commerce giant Amazon officially takes over the Middle east’s well-known online retail store Souq.com in the United Arab Emirates and rebranded its name as Amazon.ae Amazon UAE“as per official announcement”.

Amazon bought Souq.com in 2017 for 580$ million as its 1st ever initiative in the Middle East to expand its business.

Now souq.com redirects users to new Amazon site while accessing in UAE but it remains unchanged in Egypt & and Saudi Arabia as per the reports.

In an official tweet company’s co-founder Ronaldo Mouchawar (Newly appointed vice president of Amazon MENA) presented it to the customer of the UAE. 

“Today marks a proud day for the Souq and Amazon, A day that we’ve been working towards since the two companies came together in 2017,” Says Mouchawar.

“Amazon.ae brings together Souq’s local know-how and Amazon’s global expertise, something we believe will be of significant benefit to UAE customers. Our combined team in the region has grown to over 3,600 employees … we will continue to grow our product range, ensure great prices, and provide a convenient and safe shopping experience.”

Amazon.ae would entertain its customers with 30 million products with local and international business, in which previously available products from Souq.com include and adding 5 million more products from Amazon USA. 

For the convenience of the Arabic speaking people the Arabic language is introduced to web and mobile app for the very first time in the history of AMAZON, “Said officials”.
